I purchased this little clock because it reminded me of the one that used to hang in my grandparents house many decades ago. The craftsmanship is top notch and you’ll notice right away that this is a handmade piece. It’s a little smaller than I expected, but that’s no big deal. It still looks great. It’s a piece of cake to unpack and hang on the wall and it’s easy enough to adjust if it’s running a bit fast or slow. Mine tends to lose about a minute an hour, but again, it’s really no big deal. This clock is more about the nostalgia than its ability to keep perfect time.
The cuckoo is loud and sounds very much like the cuckoo I remember at my grandparents some 40 yrs ago. The big disappointment came when I began to search for the “silent lever” that other reviewers have noted. My clock does not have one so there is no way to keep the little birdie from appearing every half hour. This is certainly no problem during the day, but I’m a light sleeper and the little birdie is loud! The instruction manual says that “most” clocks have a silent lever on the side or bottom of the case. Obviously, mine is not one of the “most”.
All in all, this is a great little cuckoo and I’m mostly happy with the purchase. However, if silent mode is a major consideration for someone looking for a cuckoo clock, this may not be the one for you.

What a beautiful little clock – my family had one very much like this long ago, and it brings back good memories, right down to the pine cone weights. It arrived expertly packaged, and within minutes, it was up on the wall, ticking away. The little bird delivers a single ‘cuckoo’ at the half-hour, and delivers more at the full hour (there’s a tiny latch you can close his door with if you need some quiet time.) Do use a sturdy nail into a stud, or a drywall anchor, as you’ll exert quite a bit of downward force when resetting the weights.

Beautiful clock. I love hearing it tick. Very easy to synchronize it by raising or lowering the leaf on the pendulum. Love it.

It functions exactly as specified. You can adjust the pendulum to change the accuracy. Though it will drive some people in your family insane with the incessant chirping. You can disable the noise when they visit, but that defeats the entire purpose of the device. Whether it’s worth the 170 bucks is up to you.
I suppose if you are getting a cuckoo clock that you want to keep and hand down as an heirloom you might as well get a real one and not a cheap one that runs on batteries.
Seems to be built incredibly well. It hasn’t failed yet. Make sure you hang this on a sturdy nail mounted to a stud or you’re liable to have the whole thing crash to ground. It’s heavier than it looks.

I love this clock! This is the third one I have purchased. The Cuckoo sounds great, and it is an authentic German made cuckoo clock. It is small, but it is a great value!

The cuckoo clock is a bit smaller than I expected, but it is beautiful and it has to be hung high on the wall so that there is room for the chains and weights to hang down. I’m having a bit of a time adjusting it to make it faster or slower, but feel confident I will be able to work this out by adjusting the weight on the pendulum. The cuckoo comes out and announces the hour, and at the half hour the cuckoo chirps once. I think a cuckoo clock is a charming thing to make a house a home.
Revised 12/6/2017 This clock has never worked right. I followed all instructions. I contacted the seller who said call Amazon. The clock advertises it has a 2 year guarantee. Amazon gave me $66 to get the clock repaired. It cost $100. It still does not work. I would advise, do not buy this clock. Never worked right and nothing but a headache.

My 80 year old mom said to me one day that she always wanted a cuckoo clock. So I got her this one and it is really wonderful. She loves it and it brightens everyone’s day. It’s a great buy.
It looks nice, has a solid feel to it and is well made. The exterior is entirely wooden, no plastic except for the clock face and that still looks nice. The counter-weights are brass and they are very heavy.
The clock is entirely analog, no batteries and no motors. It makes a soft click as the pendulum swings that is just loud enough to tell you that the clock is working and quiet enough that you won’t be disturbed by it either. The cuckoo chirps on the hour and again on the half. It is surprisingly loud but not shrill, so it won’t scare anyone who may have been napping.
It’s really a charming and wonderful thing.
