I initially posted my disappointment with the Amazon ordering process that did not get my order for the G50 series string correct. I received the G40 instead. I was concerned the G40 would not have the robust wire strength of the G50 to span large distances when strung without a supporting guide wire, or line.
My feedback here is for anyone else thinking of buying the 100 foot G40 string, and considering a scheme to hang the lights over a large span of more than 20 feet.
I started off by using galvanized wire to support the light string from its three main connection points on a gazebo and tree that formed a “V” with each leg of the “V” approximately 43 feet in length. The apex of the V is at the tree, with a bolt screwed in as the anchor. Well, galvanized wire was quite troublesome because of its tendency to coil and kink, so I ditched it on the advice of my more intelligent wife who advised me to stop over engineering the project and simply string the lights “naked”.
It worked.
Attached are a couple of photos to show the completed installation. The two legs of the V with bulbs were a bit heavy, and lifting the loaded line up to the bolt in the tree required a bit of arm strength (and a 12 foot ladder…yikes!). Taking up the slack at the two connection points on the gazebo, to get just the right drape, had me worrying about excess tension overcoming cord strength. But the installation went of without a hitch. Apparently I underestimated the line strength of this product and am happy to be wrong with my initial assessment. I had enough string left over to finish up with section across the front roof line of the gazebo.
The five watt bulbs produce the perfect balance of low light visibility, warmth, and eclectic ambiance.
Every socket is functional, and every bulb works. The product was well packaged against damage and Brightown delivered my order ahead of stated delivery date.
My wife and I are very happy customers!

I bought these after managing to destroy our glass bulbs while setting them up on our new patio. Almost immediately while trying to set these new lights up I pulled them off their mount and they fell to the ground but all the bulbs survived. They provide a decent amount of illumination and really look great. My only complaint is I wish they were just a smidge longer but that’s a minor complaint.

I’ve had these lights for a few years, and so this review is based not upon the “honeymoon phase,” which often accompanies newly purchased products, but rather upon long-term use. That said, let’s dive in:
The Good:
* They are aesthetically pleasing.
* The light emitted by the strand as a whole is bright enough to light up any space without casting too harsh of a glow.
* Replacement bulbs are relatively inexpensive (a box of 25 C7 globe replacement lights on Amazon is less than $13).
The Bad:
* These bulbs are EXTREMELY fragile. Think chicken-with-a-calcium-deficiency-eggshell fragile. If you breathe on them wrong, they are going to shatter. These would *not* be a practical choice for outdoor use (I sincerely doubt they’d hold up under the force of a stiff breeze or a heavy rain). We purchased these with the intention of putting them up outdoors, but it quickly became apparent that they would not be able to withstand any sort of weather. We ended up using them in our library.
* The bulbs burn out very quickly, so ordering replacements is a must.
* My set did not come with a remote.
Pro Tip:
* Hang the light string FIRST, and then add the bulbs…if you don’t, the bulbs are so fragile that they shatter if they happen to gently clink against the chord, each other, or the ground (even gentle contact with any of these surfaces will shatter them).
To “sum up”:
I cannot recommend this light string…not only are the bulbs too fragile to be employed in any practical setting, but they burn out so quickly. The quality control is also questionable, considering that the remote was missing.

I hung these on my covered front porch and on our patio in the backyard. They are great. Nice quality and a nice warm bright (but not too bright) light. Just what I was looking for!

These lights were fantastic for about 11 months––after which, unfortunately, they stopped working. The replacement fuse included in the purchase did not work either. However, this product has a 1-year warranty. I reached out to their customer service with my original invoice, and they immediately sent a replacement.
