Very nice looking mat. I like that it is thick and wipes the dirt off my shoes easily. But it sheds like crazy. It is outside my door and while I no longer bring dirt into the house my shoes and floors are covered in lots of little brown strings that have come off the mat. May this won’t be such a problem in dry weather but in rainy weather, it’s almost more of a mess than the dirt was.

This 100% natural coconut husk door mat is EXACTLY what I was looking for. It has a thick, dense weave that will last a long time. I chose it over all the door mats at WalMart that though they had some natural material, often were overlaid with synthetic dyes, and were glued onto a plastic or synthetic rubber backing. It is the artificial base of the mats that smelled bad to me. The chemicals outgassed. The 100% Natural Coco Doormat can be flipped from one side to the other, while most other mats can’t. I bought this for standing on while at a computer terminal. I stand barefoot on it and the coconut husks gently stimulate my feet. And if you know about the importance of walking barefoot on the grass or the sand, this mat allows for GROUNDING of your energy because there is nothing artificial under your feet. So I get that regenerative electron flow from the earth to boost my health. Yes, the thing does shed, but so would any such material not held together by plastics and other synthetic binders as all competing mats have. I have a little hand held Dyson V8 vacuum that I whisk around the mat every few days. Not a problem. Love this mat!

The product looks nice and seems like it’s of pretty good quality, but it’s more loosely woven than I expected. I guess I’ll just wait and see how long it lasts.

This is a nice quality mat. It is heavy enough to stay in place in front of the door. It’s especially good during snow season, when it can absorb snow from our boots and still dries pretty quickly.

I loved the first one so much, I got another. Fantastic quality, buy with confidence.

These thick, all-natural doormats are durable and last a long time – several years, in fact, with everyday use. Their primary job is to use them to clean off the soles of one’s shoes and boots. Their tightly woven surfaces easily scour footwear clean, and should the mats get especially dirty, you can spray-wash them with water from a hose in a flash. Plus, you can even out the wear of the mats simply by flipping them over periodically. Previous mats lasted 15 years, to offer fine value.

I bought four of these; we have a family of four with “normal use”.
PROS:
* they seem to be good at getting the dirt off your shoes because it’s made of a thick stiff bristle material.
* look nice (plain, which is fine with me)
CONS:
* They have no rubber backing, so you MUST put the braided side down and “spikey” side up or the doormat will “walk” each time you step on it. When the wrong side is facing up, it will move … a LOT
* They leave a lot of brown dust (although for outdoors, I don’t care about that)
* after a few months use, they shed a lot. It leaves string (what others call hay) all over the place, inside the house. The strings get stuck on your shoes and they get everywhere.
DOWNGRADED to 1 star after several months of use. They leave a mess in the house because they shed so badly. If for very infrequent use, then they are ok. If for your main entryway, get another mat. I am throwing away two that we use for the main entrances to your house.

If you’ve had coco mats before, this be similar. I especially wanted a breathable one without a rubberized bottom so that it would dry out faster after a good rain – this style is getting harder to find at the typical hardware stores and such that carry mats. So I ordered this one. Track the price and you can pick it up for about the same as what they typically go for locally (if you can find).
Yes they do shed, and eventually wear out. But this is typical of every coco mat I’ve ever owned. This one is wearing well just outside the front door compared to the others I’ve had, and is not shedding any more than they did.
